FINDING BEAUTY IN AN EXISTING FLOOR

LOW MAINTENANCE IN A HIGH TRAFFIC ENVIRONMENT

For this library, Desco provided a durable polished concrete floor to deal with high amounts of foot traffic. Open 24 hours a day, the library is limited in the cleaning and maintenance they can provide while still remaining in operation. Built in the late 1960s, this building previously had carpet tile on the floor; not an ideal low maintenance solution. Heavy foot traffic, cart traffic, and countless coffee spills from late night study sessions all took their toll on the floor, but Desco provided them with the solution: polished concrete. Polished concrete does not require waxing or stripping unlike other finishes. The terrazzo like appearance with a high gloss finish makes the floor a stand out piece in the building. And best of all: this floor is LEED friendly.
