CUSTOM CONCRETE DESIGN: FABRIC FORMED GLOW IN THE DARK SINK

Whew, what a mouthful. What is a blue fabric formed glow in the dark concrete sink? It’s a cutting edge decorative concrete sink for our bathroom at the shop. We had some time this winter to experiment a bit with some new ideas in the concrete industry and we were in need of a sink. Rather than just going to a home renovation store and picking up a standard sink, we got creative and tried out some new products and techniques. Ryan Spotowski, son to one of the project managers, had been experimenting with fabric forming concrete in university and thought it’d be interesting to do for a sink.

After working on different mix designs and mold designs, we were ready to make a sink. But not just any old grey concrete would do. We’re Desco, we had to be a bit more creative than that. We came across some glow in the dark rocks and had to try them out. And then to really make it pop, we used blue concrete and glass chips. The result is a concrete sink that looks nothing like any concrete you’ve seen before.

If you’re in the neighbourhood, come on over and check it out. It’s a work of art as much as it is a functional sink.
